best vMess guide

Hey guys, welcome to my masterguide on the best way to set up V2Ray with VMess and Vless, SSH, Trojan, Shadowsocks, socks5 and SSL.

This guide will show you how to set up these tools, and the best services to do so. You need to be careful because if you don’t do it right, you could end up sending your data straight to the gov HQ, or having your data sold and stolen to the highest bidder.

TorGuard - Finally a Good Vmess/vless, Socks5, SSH Proxy Provider?

Today we are going to talk about some interesting new tools offered by TorGuard VPN that should be VERY interesting to a specific audience. Just to be clear, this is not sponsored by TorGuard, and I’ve done a fair bit of research into other competitors and ways to use V2ray proxies.

My background is in VPN research and reviews (hence the VPN Tier List), and I’ve tested over 70+ VPNs….

NONE of them offer this stuff, and if you’re actually in a place like Iran that has heavily censored the internet, you will know I’m not BSing. Just check out some of this proof of it confirmed working in China and Iran.

Not only that, but TorGuard has sponsored the non profit group, Free Internet for Iran.

Which Countries Block VPNs?

Countries that currently block popular VPN protocols in some way include Belarus, China, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Russia, Turkmenistan and the U.A.E. China’s great firewall tech has been exported around the world so it’s likely this list will increase in the coming years.

If you’re outside the USA, in a heavily censored country like Iran, China, or other dictator-run countries, you most likely are having issues seeing the “real” internet, getting access to non biased news, or using popular services you need to live your life. Additionally, if you’re traveling, or under a strict firewall environment, some of these tools also may prove useful to you as well.

Or, maybe you don’t care about Instagram but just need to access Google services or Dropbox so you can work. If your country blocks VPNs then TorGuard’s v2ray and SSH service can help. In totality, TorGuard offers a wide variety of protocols being: V2ray vmess, vless, trojan, SSH, Shadowsocks, socks5, and SSL.

I like to think of their approach being like a “swiss army knife” of unblockage tools. What might work in China might not work in Iran, so at the end of the day, you need to do some experimenting with each tool to find the one that works.

These proxies are primarily designed to bypass strict firewalls that block normal VPN protocols. They will ensure your privacy as well as access. From recent user feedback TorGuard’s SSH and v2ray service appears to be confirmed working in China and Iran. TorGuard also updates these servers frequently to ensure they can always bypass blocks.

What is v2ray proxy and why does it work?

Wireguard and OpenVPN are still the best VPN protocols for most people to use, but even Stealth OpenVPN services are now being blocked by deep packet inspection firewalls.

This is where V2ray and SSH comes in. If you reside in a country that actively blocks popular VPN methods, V2ray can help you access the internet the same way a VPN would.

V2ray has the most client side applications and can run on any desktop, OpenWRT router or mobile OS with many free apps to choose from. Popular V2ray apps support TorGuard’s vmess, vless, and trojan servers.

what is Socks5 and why does it work?

Socks5 has a wide variety of use cases and can work with any application that supports socks5. You could easily use this high speed socks5 in a bittorrent client, or if bypassing censorship is important it also works with Telegram. Any application that has socks5 support in the settings will work with these servers.

what is Shadowsocks and how does it work?

Shadowsocks is a well known protocol that is based on socks5. It has a long history of being used in China to evade VPN blocks and good client app support. It has great speeds, but if you’re trying to access the web in a country like Iran, it might not be the best choice as it is prone to blocking.

what is ssh and how does it work?

SSH tunneling is by far the most popular option for mobile users in any country with strict VPN filters. SSH tunneling is faster than V2ray however it has less client side apps to choose from. That said, TorGuard does have instructions that make it work on Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS. If V2ray methods are not working for you, SSH will always break through.

what is web proxy and how does it work?

The SSL web proxy is the easiest method to get up and running fast. It’s ideal if someone wants to tunnel traffic just through a web browser, and use the standard internet for other applications. For example, maybe you’re behind the great firewall and use firefox to go on the open web, but use chrome at the same time to login to a .cn bank account. The SSL web proxy is flexible so you can do both things at once. TorGuard’s SSL servers work with a Chrome and Firefox extension with many port options so this method is good for bypassing filters.

Why not use other competitors?

IMO, there really isn’t much competition, and this is a sorely filled niche.

It’s important to find out WHO runs the service, especially if you’re using it in a country that restricts VPNs. The last thing you want is to find out the free vmess link you used was secretly ran by the state.

For example, one popular website is reported to be ran from a chinese car repair shop (https://www.vpnjantit.com/) that just so happens to be in the VPN business.

The vast majority of v2ray services have free offerings with paid upgrades for other servers. Services that offer a free plan are the first ones to get blocked and won’t be reliable long term.

DON’T USE FREE, they might siphon your data straight into the hands of the government, and you end up in jail. Free services are more likely to keep activity logs and if you check many of them there is no text saying “no logs”.

How to Setup V2Ray, SSH, Socks5, SSL with TorGuard

Step 1.

Click on this link, and choose the plan you want . On checkout, use code “tomproxy” for 30% off.

Step 2.

Once purchased, navigate to the servers tab in your account panel, then click on “premium proxy network”.

Step 3.

Pick one of the proxy servers to test it and see if it works. I recommend trying out V2Ray Network first.

Step 4.

Click on “V2Ray Setup guides”. This will take you to a page that provides various ways to use V2Ray. These are mobile or desktop apps that take your “QR code” or vmess link to import the server and let you connect to TorGuard’s V2Ray network.

For mobile iOS, use “FairVPN”, for Android use “SagerNet”, and for PC platforms you can use V2RayA, NekoRay or V2rayN. TorGuard has made tutorials on how to set up their V2ray service for each platform, as well as the other tools. If you already have purchased another V2ray app, of course you can use that too.

Step 4b.

If you are using SSH tunnels just click the SSH server tab and you’ll see the link to various setup guides. For PC you can use NetMod or bitVise, for iOS you can use NapsternetV and for Android you can connect with SagerNet or NetMod.

Step 5.

Once you pick an app and a way to connect, you should be able to connect after following their guide’s directions. Now you should have unrestricted access. If V2Ray does not work, try out Shadowsocks or SSH Tunnel network, and follow those guides!
